Celebrating Frankie Knuckles

frankie
It’s been a year since we lost the great Frankie Knuckles. Defected records are about to release a compilation that they were working on with Frankie himself, featuring the very best of the great man’s works. Unfortunately he passed over just one month after starting work on the project, which Defected has recently finished and will release towards the end of the month. HALA is very lucky to be part of this superb compilation, and also to be a key part of Frankies career being a key remix/release at the time of his comeback. All profits from the album are being donated to The Frankie Knuckles Fund established in partnership with the Elton John Aids Foundation.

Andy has this to say…

“Surreal as it is to think about, It has been a year since Frankie Knuckles passed. Some might argue it feels his legacy is more important than ever now, with anthemic uplifting moments on the dance floor becoming even scarcer. This interview with Simon Dunmore from Defected is really interesting to say the least- he talks the history of house, great stories of the Warehouse, and talks about what brought him to remixing “Blind”. It sent shivers down my spine to hear him talk about that experience in this interview, and just adds a little more fuel to my fire to keep on keepin’ on. It also offers a lil reminder: vocals do still matter people. PS: Thank you forever Maria May!”

As well as the CD there is a tee shirt available too, you can get them here:
